What does it cost?

Getting Started

I’ve never competed before. Can I still come?

Absolutely — most of our shooters started exactly where you are. Show up a little early, tell the range officer it’s your first match, and we’ll pair you with someone experienced. New faces are the point.

What gear do I need?

A safe, reliable .22 LR rifle, enough ammo for the match plus sight-in (standard velocity preferred), eye and ear protection, water, and clothes for the weather. Loaner gear is often available for first-timers — just ask ahead on the email list.

How do I sign up?

Use the registration form on the schedule page, or just walk on — walk-ons are welcome. [First-timer and fee policy TBD.]

On the Day

Is it safe for family to watch?

Yes. Spectator areas sit well behind the firing line, and it’s genuinely a spectator sport — pull up a chair and watch the steel ring. Kids welcome with a parent or guardian.

Where and when?

Each host range sets its own schedule — find your nearest club on the finder, and gate and bay details go out to registered shooters before each match. Show up about an hour early to sign in.

What if the weather is bad?

We shoot in the cold and the drizzle, same as the game always has. Genuinely dangerous weather (ice, lightning) can move or cancel a match; registered shooters get an email if plans change.

The Sport

Why is this .22 LR only?

Because the .22 LR is honest. It has almost no recoil, it’s cheap and quiet, and it strips shooting down to fundamentals — it shows you exactly where you stand.

Do I need to be a local?

Not at all. Matches are open to anyone who can legally shoot at the host range, and out-of-state shooters passing through are always welcome.

Is there an age minimum?

Youth shooters are welcome with a parent or guardian on the line. [Confirm host-range policy.]
